Caliber - ARYSTAN - KS-23

The KS-23 carbine was created by order of the Soviet Ministry of Internal Affairs in the late 70s. Customers demanded the designers combine large caliber, special cartridges with different “filling”, and high accuracy in the single gun. To fulfill such requirements, an unusual decision to use shortened and lightweight barrels from an aircraft gun was made. The result turned out to be something between a shotgun and a grenade launcher. But according to the official classification, the KS-23 variants are carbines, albeit of a completely cannon-size caliber. And if anyone still sees 23 millimeters too small a caliber, they can install a nozzle on the barrel and fire supercaliber grenades.
