Caliber - VYMPEL - GUARDS - Key Art

The Guards, the Legendary collection for the Vympel unit, were released in Caliber in summer 2020.
The legendary unit was founded in 1981. Originally a part of the First Main Directorate KGB USSR, the unit's main objectives during the Soviet era were conducting intelligence sabotage in enemy territory, establishing intelligence networks, and the seizure and elimination of persons possessing important intel. Early Vympel candidates faced severe selection procedures: they required a spotless reputation, incredible physical fitness and high psychological resilience. After enlisting, personnel went through training across dozens of subjects that lasted several years. After their training, the operators became universal saboteurs that could operate anywhere in the world, in the most harsh climatic conditions, completely independent and without any support from the mainland.
After much reorganization, Vympel became a part of the Special Purpose Center of FSS of Russia in the 2000s. Nowadays, the main focus of the V department is fighting international terrorism and conducting counter-terrorist activities at strategic facilities.
